REV3 – THE 3RD INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION
IN THE HAUTS-DE-FRANCE REGION

Led by the Hauts-de-France region and the regional chamber of commerce, Rev3 is a dynamic collective designed to transform the region into one of Europe’s most advanced regions in energy transition and digital technologies.

BUILDING A NEW ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL MODEL

It’s a first for France and an example being followed in Europe!.

The Hauts-de-France region is committed to the third industrial revolution via its Master Plan jointly defined with Jeremy Rifkin – an American analyst and global specialist in energy transition. The objective: to meet the economic, social and environmental challenges by changing how we live, travel, consume and produce.

All the region’s stakeholders (citizens, youth, entrepreneurs, politicians, educators, researchers, associations, etc.) have been mobilised to conduct proactive transition in the region;the process is creative, responsible, collaborative and connected with the objective of a carbon-neutral economy by 2050.

ENERGISING COMPANIES FOR THE THIRD INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

The “Rev3 Energisers” give a helping hand to start-ups and growing companies to enable them to improve performance, transform their business model and finance their projects.

Regional companies receive support for their ecoproduction projects and benefit from bespoke and scalable services based on optimising and recovering flows (water, energy, waste), combined with sustainable governance.

Six Rev3 Energisers have already been launched in Douai, Arras, Lille, Calais, Dunkirk and Lens-Liévin. The next one is scheduled for Saint-Quentin.

DEMONSTRATORS FOR COMMITTED TERRITORIES

18 territories in the Hauts-de-France region have voluntarily committed themselves to the regional Rev3 initiative.
They have become our Rev3 Demonstrator Territories.

Local authorities, companies, inhabitants, education and research are together constructing a project for the future and are working on setting up experiments to meet their specific local demands.

BANKING ON INNOVATIVE SECTORS

It is the objective of Rev3 to structure and consolidate within the region those sectors and fields with the highest potential, combining enterprise, research and training:

  • Renewable energies
  • Positive-energy buildings
  • Soft mobility
  • Circular economy
  • Functionality and uses economy
  • Smart grids and digital
  • Artificial intelligence and robotics
  • Biosourced materials
  • Biotechnologies
  • Sustainable food
  • Intelligent energy networks
  • Social and solidarity economy
  • CSR…

COMMITTED PARTICIPANTS IN HIGHER EDUCATION AND RESEARCH

33 members (7 regional universities, 15 Grandes Ecoles and 3 public research establishments) have now committed themselves to Unirev3, the network of operators in higher education and research determined to conquer the third industrial revolution in the Hauts-de-France region.

Together they have been mobilised to adapt their courses and redirect their innovations to the demands of the economy, rearranging their offerings to cater for the vocations able to meet the challenges of Rev3.

The secondary school students in the Hauts-de-France region are also constructing their future against the backdrop of Rev3, through the Generation+ Rev3 calls for projects and the FABriques Rev3 educational initiative.
